GOSHEN, N.Y. (AP) — A lawyer for the family of a college
football player killed by police outside a suburban New York bar says
there's no evidence he did anything criminal.
Lawyer Michael Sussman says the accounts of eyewitnesses, including
two men who were in the car with Danroy "D.J." Henry when he was killed,
contradict the police account.
Sussman says Henry was at the wheel of his car in a fire lane early
Sunday when an officer beckoned him to move. He says Henry complied and
had driven a few feet at low speed when another officer yelled that the
car should be stopped.
Sussman says an officer ran in front of the car with his weapon drawn and started firing within seconds.
Police have said that Henry sped away, hitting two officers after a policeman knocked on his window.
