Oakland -- Oakland voters who thought they would be spared catastrophic budget cuts by voting for the Democrats and Oakland's Jerry Brown in the campaign against fascist Meg Whitman and the Republican Party, feel abandoned and have been double-crossed by the latest round of budget cuts supported by Democrats that are pulverizing the disabled, poor, sick and the elderly.

NEW ORLEANS — Justice Department officials on Thursday released the findings of a 10-month investigation into this city’s Police Department, revealing a force that is profoundly and alarmingly troubled and setting in motion a process for its wholesale reform.

Oppose AB 13! Resist discrimination against formerly incarcerated people

AB 13 (Knight) would ban people with most drug convictions and serious/violent felonies from volunteering at public schools. 

This bill is blatantly discriminatory and really targets children of formerly incarcerated people.  Many of these children are in the process of recovering from the loss of a parent over an extended period of time.  When these parents are back in their children's lives it is wrong to arbitrarily ban all of them from
volunteering in the schools.

Jalil Muntaqim transfered to Attica in retaliation

please find a statement from political prisoner Jalil
Muntaqim regarding his recent and abrupt transfer from Auburn
Correctional Facility to Attica Correctional Facility on January 10, 
2011. He is asking for community support, both against this

Feds Find ‘Systemic Violations of Civil Rights’ by New Orleans Police Department

The U.S. Department of Justice released a 158-page report
today on the New Orleans Police Department, identifying a host of deep
systemic problems, including a pattern of discriminatory policing, the
routine use of "unnecessary and unreasonable" force, and a chronic
failure to discipline officers involved in misconduct.
