MARTINEZ -- Acknowledging the strong community opposition, Contra Costa County Sheriff David Livingston is backing off on plans for a 150-bed jail expansion in Richmond.

Feds: Kan. women's prison violates inmates' rights

 

If Kansas officials don't take remedial action in less than 50 days to address Eighth Amendment violations at the prison, the Justice Department issued notice of intent to file a federal lawsuit to compel reform
